ROUND 21 UPDATE

-------- IMPORTANT NOTICE -------

Today the Footytips website announced that tipping can, for the first time, continue throughout the AFL finals.

Gotta love their ‘Just In Time’ processes don’t you!

It is an option that each comp. administrator must select before it is turned on for each individual tipping comp (ie. our Network Ops comp)

The Network Ops tipping comp will NOT be active beyond this week’s final Round 22.

Our comp has always been run over the 22 home and away rounds only, and it wouldn’t be fair to whoever is ‘in the money’ after Round 22, to change the tried and true system and continue the tipping through the finals.

Next year maybe, but not this year punters.

You can however, keep tipping as an individual in the overall Footytips.com competition. To do this, just keep tipping!

So just to confirm – I will be paying out all money based on our leaderboard results after Round 22.

Did you work out what’s different?

The correct answer is ....................................

Great Britain, the cheating amalgamation of 4 scheming and cheating countries, can say, only in the Olympics, that they are better than us at sport!

Well congratulations to all you Poms.

THE NETWORK OPS AFL LEADERBOARD

 2008 Tipping ladder

Oval Callout: Crikey tippers, it’s tighter than a croc’s clacker up the top of the Network Ops leaderboard!!!!

Yes Steve, it actually is very tight.

And with only Round 22 to go, there will be handful of tippers paying very close attention to the injuries, ins and outs, previous form guide, alignment of the stars etc etc this week.

And I’m glad I’m out of the race and can tip freely in the knowledge that I, Coolio, good looks aside of course, am a loser.

On 123 points both, we’ve got Guido just leading aqueous.

Guido sits in front of aqueous by the narrowest of narrow margins. 1 solitary little gross margin point!

In the 34 years this comp has run, I’ve never seen it so tight going into the final round.

In 3rd spot Carlie Dean sits nervously, ahead of SUPERBOOT by total margin only. Both are on 122 tipping points.

And not out of the race for the money are the 4 tippers on 121 tipping points, Jovanka, Go Cats, Roadie and Bondy.

Who knows what Round 22 will bring, but all the above tippers will feel the pressure submitting their tips this week I’m betting!

Don’t forget to submit your tips!

Round 21

1st – Fevolution

The Fev-Bomber Girl partnership has cleaned up this year in the weekly comp.

On 4 occasions since Round 12, they’ve taken $20 from our prize pool. And have we even battered (or batted) an eyelid?

No. Shame on all of us.

Fev, was the Round 21 winner, tipping a perfect 8 and margin of 6.

Fev and I had a bit of an email footy sledge-off earlier this week, and I’ve copied the email trail at the centre of it all...................

Fev, that photo hurt my feelings! But what a way to finish a sledge!

Coolio dips his hat.

2nd – Bones

Good onya Bones. A perfect 8, only to be beaten by a Blue. Don’t you just hate that!

I hope you can get to the ‘G on Sunday arvo to farewell two of your stalwarts, Adam Yze, and a Network Ops favourite, Jeff ‘McBoobie’ White.

Poor old Bones has had to put up with a team that won only 3 times this year.

With Jon Brown playing CHF for you next year though, you’ll have a target up forward and should threaten the other teams vying for a 10th to 14th end of season ladder position!

3rd – SWAN

Obviously the fleeting flirtation with fame that SWAN experienced last week when he came 3rd in Round 20, strengthened his resolve, and he’s been able to replicate last week’s effort by coming 3rd again!

While Swan came 3rd, his team of sick Swans were soundly beaten by the Magpies for the 42nd successive time on the weekend.

Housekeeping

I’ve chased up all the entry money – so here are the final prize ‘divvys’

Now that the money’s been counted, and the bookies have been pacified, I can ‘officially’ declare the prizes for this seasons comp.

It’s big money this year, so pull your collective fingers out and start studying the form guide. If you’re tipping poorly, then start studying a different type of form guide! Bluey already has.

Total prize pool = Number of paid up tippers 73 x $20 = $1460

Weekly prizes = 22 rounds x $20 = $440

Remainder of prize pool for end of season winners = $1020

1st place = $500

2nd place = $250

3rd place = $150

4th place = $70

5th place = $50
