ROUND 22 UPDATE

A final season update, worthy of being the final update of the season, and filled with Awards, Certificates of Merit, jokes, NOFTE Footy Tipping drinks details and heaps of other time wasting material, will follow.

But probably next week!

NOFTE 2008 Footy Tipping Drinks

I reckon we should have a footy tipping drinks arvo or night, for all tippers and other footy mad friends. I’ll entertain ideas and date for a venue, but I’m thinking maybe for a Semi (week after this one!) or Prelim final (the week after the Semis!) at a pub somewhere in Brissie.

And Melbourne or Sydney tippers, I don’t think we’ll meet you halfway at the Union Hotel in Tangambalanga.  Use your staff travel and come to Brisbane. The Ekka and Riverfire or whatever it’s called have finished, so we’re back to normal up here!

Anyway I’ll get back to you about what may happen in the drinks stakes.

ANYWAY, WHO FINISHED IN THE MONEY???

THE NETWORK OPS AFL LEADERBOARD

 2008 Tipping ladder

Poor old Guido!

He’d been in front for 8 weeks this season, and will be presented with the ‘Rafa Award’, which is annually awarded to the tipper who holds the No 1 ranking for the most weeks.

But........................Guido got overtaken in a Schumacher type maneuver in Round 22, by aqueous.

They both tipped 6 this week, but due to aqueous’s superior final round margin, he’s beaten Guido by 2 miserable total margin points!

In the 34 years of slaving away running this particular tipping comp (I ran the Ibis Milk factory comp for 23 years before breaking away and creating this comp) I’ve never seen such a tight finish.

In 3rd place, after I gave her a pep talk at Killer Kearney’s drinks on Friday night and told her to tip the Blues (clearly she didn’t listen to me. Phew!) sat Carlie Dean.

It’s been a terrific debut season for Carlie, and she’ll be sure to figure in the 2008 NOFTE Rising Star Award.

Perennial bridesmaid and champion surprise birthday organiser Jovanka, popped up in 4th place. She pulled her socks up after an average season last year, and just like Vossy, she’s come back strong!

In 5th place, lurking just like a sub tropical depression that’s developing in a surface trough, Bondy couldn’t get back to the very top after holding down the No 1 spot for 4 weeks earlier in the season. He’s good value for a Met man. Though, these days he spends more time looking at the weather than when he used to do it for a living.

I mean you don’t want to play golf in the rain do you?
